I’m not a good flyer. On a flight from Amsterdam a few years ago, the flight attendant saw I was visibly shaken. He got down near me and prayed for me. I will never in my life forget his kindness. All the Dutch I’ve met have been incredibly kind and what’s happening to their beloved country makes me sick to my stomach.
My spouse has a permanently disfigured ear from being dragged on the pavement through the playground as a child by his ear when it was six. So forgive me if I find that less than savory.
