Interesting thing about GTMO. This, anon, sounds like a great post to follow up on and educate anons with - thank you for posting…

GTMO (Gitmo), is a US Navy Base. It has been in existence since 1898 during the Spanish - American War. We officially signed the treaty in 1902 that gives us a "version" of sovereign dominion over the property…

Anyhow, these days we basically own it and operate under US military law. There are two pieces to GTMO - US Navy, and US JTF-GTMO. So US Navy has around 9000 people on base, Sailors and family and contractors. JTF is Joint Forces and is the 2500 soldier-family force that handles the detention center. Sooooo….the Navy owns Gitmo. When we talk about thew prison, we are referring to the small JTF contingent that is mixed military that handles the prison. Almost 12,000 people there total. Not a very secret place, just a special place. Check out Wiki Guantanamo (Bay) and Guantanamo (Base). Lots of good shit, but lets not jump to conclusions. Sincerely, dedicated planefag and bonafide Gitmo jobanon Indeed..
