Yesterday the government pulled one of the most insane moves I've seen.
At a Parliamentary meeting which was to be about our recently demoted & resigned Attorney General and the scandal surrounding that matter, the Liberal government handed paperwork to the reporters present (but not to the members of the Opposition parties) which notified them that the government would be dispensing with the entire issue regarding the AG (declaring it over) and instead it would addess hate speech and a task force, new measures to combat it.
Weeks ago our Minister of Democratic institutions, a nightmare of a feminist named Karina Gould (31 yrs old), tried to insist that Google remove not only hate speech but "toxic rhetoric" from its platform by insisting that they limit Canadians' access to news of foreign origin.
She wanted NEWS removed from search results.
Google said no. … but it happened anyway to a limited degree.
She is taking further measures as we speak.
Also there is a panel of 'high ranking bureaucrats' who will decided - wholly on their own without oversight - what constitutes 'false news.'
