Im not sure if your are assuming his fear base on a) the looks on his face or b) the supposed quick exit rout discussed earlier.
But, following your interesting argument, the quick exit route is more likely an “forcable removal/extraction route” than his “escape route for his own safety”. I say this because you propose the theory that he fears his handlers.
