TV Azteca is one of the world’s largest producers of Spanish-language television programming. Owned by Grupo Salinas, the company says its TV networks cover as much as 97% of Mexican households with televisions. Related company Azteca America reaches more viewers across the U.S.
Azteca’s donations to the Clinton foundation covered participation at annual Clinton Global Initiative events since 2016, company spokesman Luciano Pascoe Rippey said in an emailed statement.
Between mid-2010 mid-2013, the companies also retained The Ickes & Enright Group, a company that lobbied the Department of State and other federal agencies on issues that ranged from U.S. business opportunities to education and programs that promote Mexico-U.S. relations.
Harold Ickes served as a deputy chief of staff for President Bill Clinton. He’s also been a board member of Priorities USA Action, the super PAC that has backed Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign. Janice Enright was an Ickes’ assistant in the Clinton White House. She’s a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
In the company statement, Azteca said the company and its lobbyists “have complied with all applicable laws.”
