I agree that the word is definitely out of place. What could it mean? The first meaning that pops into my head is that artifacts are typically associated with buried things, and in this case likely involves dead people that Q is asking us to (figuratively) dig up. So why not look for dead people's names in those logs and see what artifacts we can dig up?
