I went to college for mechanical engineering technology. 1.5 years of that shit was enough for me. I could go be a draftsman but in all honesty a 40 hour week doesn't work for me. I've thought about learning computer language and I totally understand the auto analogy as I also went to college for 1.5 years as an auto mechanic. With the way auto shops are set up right now I'd be screwed being hard of hearing. I now have a 2 yr Technical Studies degree and keep thinking computers might be fun and I'd understand it as it's all logical thinking. Seems like a person could easily do that part time or full time as they wished and still have plenty of time for other shit.
I've built my own computers in the past so no stranger to that just never really learned coding. However in mechanical engineering I did learn G-code which was frankly simple with my background.
If that's all computer language boils down to then I better get to learning assembly language.

Hell, when I was in mechanical engineering school I kicked everyone else's asses because I already had the auto mechanic background… it was so relevant to mechanical engineering that it wasn't funny. The part that fucked me up in mechanical engineering was the higher level math in the last semester… I didn't have much of a PROBLEM with it, I just didn't want to put in the time to figure out the coefficient of friction of a certain slope. Seemed like a waste of time to me.
