Help send Water Filters to Nebraska and Missouri Communities Affected by Flooding. Through many generous donations, most areas now have essential supplies, including bottled drinking water coming in. However, this does not provide clean water for bathing, cleaning, cooking, or to provide safe water for the few surviving livestock. Filtering the water already onsite is a much more effective solution. Even as the municipal water systems and individual wells are coming back online, they are discovering that the ground water sources have been contaminated by the raw flood water tidal waves that swept through. So even if the tap is running, the water is not safe. However, so far no water filters have been sent. This is where you come in. Katadyn water filter company has generously offered to deeply discount these filters for this relief effort. They will ship them directly to the Nebraska staging area. Unpaid volunteers already on site are organizing the distribution to communities whose water supply has been contaminated by flood water, in coordination with Nebraska and Missouri Emergency Mgmt directors once the shipment arrives. There may be additional shipments to Missouri as the flood waters move down the Missouri River.
