Because most people befriend them for their body.
They find it hard to believe someone would like them for their mind and soul. It takes a lot of time and effort to convince them of that.

A family member worked in highly secret military projects in the 50s and today refuses to use a personal computer. I just assumed that if they let civilians have it, it's backdoored and monitored.
Most people who get away with CP have governmental connections or diplomatic immunity… or are turned into intelligence assets one confronted.

Web video is a clown project / lab experiment. TV with centralized control of narrative was losing effect thanks to 9/11 truthers and such. What better way than to herd people into a new visual platform and controll THAT?
