I have family who live in the desert of Southern Utah and that area has some of the lowest crime rates in the USA. It gets up to 115 F during the summer and there's no crazy shit going on there.
I mean, that is a bit true since its predominately white there. I guess it helps that they're all mormon. Maybe not the best religion, but at least they have something keeping them away from communist atheism.
