Don't dismiss the Constitutional issues that led the WBTS. It went all the way back to the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, Federalist vs Anti-Federalist. We still have our issues because of the issues between local, state, and federal powers. Neither existing political party is pure or innocent. Each exists for their own interest and power. A far cry from what the Founders envisioned. Thank the Anti-Federalists for the Bill of Rights. WBTS was much more complicated than just slavery.
