Apart from Champs-Elysees: Yellow Vests hold protests across France despite place bans

Yellow Vest protests continue in France for the 19th straight weekend. In Paris, they have been banned from demonstrating on the Champs-Elysees, and those daring to violate the ban face fines.

Following the previous violent weekend, French authorities have banned the Yellow Vests from the most popular protest locations, including the Champs-Elysees in Paris, Pey-Berland square in Bordeaux, and the Capitole in Toulouse.

According to the latest official figures from the Ministry of Interior, some 40,500 people demonstrated across France, including 5,000 in Paris.

While the restrictions imposed by the authorities have seemingly scared off some protestors, many believe that it’s just a temporary setback and next week more people will take to the streets. Banning the Yellow Vests from certain locations won’t stop the protests, one of the main figures of the movement, Éric Drouet, told RT France.

Jets, nukes & plasma rifles? New Zealand police flooded with fake gun surrender requests

The harsh gun control measures introduced by New Zealand triggered a protest backlash, with pranksters flooding police with bogus applications to surrender unlikely weapons such plasma rifles, fighter jets and even nuclear bombs.

After New Zealand adopted a ban on military-style semi-automatic and assault rifles following the Christchurch mass shooting, the police set up a special telephone number and an online application form to facilitate the collection of the newly banned weapons. The measure turned out to be quite popular as the officers received 474 calls in less than a day and, on Friday, almost 130 calls in just one hour.

However, the online application form was also targeted by what some local media called a “digital protest” against the tighter restrictions on weapon possession.

Some pranksters reportedly even attempted to register old Soviet MiG 15 fighter jets and American B61 nuclear bombs as weapons they would like to hand over. Some with more devious minds also tried to submit non-existent, futuristic plasma rifles, among other things.

Others directly vented their anger at the new rules right in the comment sections below the submission form, by saying that the New Zealand government seeks to “steal people’s property.” The total number of online applications amounted to 1,000, according to the police statement. It is unclear though, how many of these fake requests had been filed by actual New Zealanders, before authorities decided to shut down the facility to submit the forms from overseas.

“Unfortunately, some people have decided it is a good use of their time to misuse the form and submit ‘fake’ notifications to hand in weapons,” Police Assistant Commissioner Tusha Penny wrote, in an angry statement. “While these individuals may be short of productive work to do, Police are not.”

Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL) says the illegal alien accused of killing school teacher Sonya Jones of Mobile, Alabama, in a head-on, hit-and-run car crash gamed the United States’ asylum system and took advantage of the Catch and Release policy.

As Breitbart News reported, Jones — a 49-year-old mother of two and teacher at Mobile’s Living Word Christian Center Kingdom Academy — was killed by 16-year-old illegal alien Domingo Francisco Marcos, from Guatemala, in a head-on, hit-and-run collision on March 18, police say.

In an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Saturday, Byrne detailed how Marcos used the country’s weak asylum process and Catch and Release policy, where border crossers are caught and released into the interior of the country, to stay in the United States:

This woman who has been tragically killed, and her family has been traumatized as a result of it, was one of my constituents. This illegal immigrant came to this country illegally, claimed asylum, by the way, then they gave him a date for his asylum hearing. He did not show up for his asylum hearing, as so many of these asylum seekers do because they’re gaming the system. And now he has killed an innocent woman, a teacher, it’s outrageous. He should have never gotten into this country to begin with, which is why we need border security — a wall and other things — and we shouldn’t have an asylum system that he and others game. [Emphasis added]

Only 20 percent of asylum seekers, get asylum. They know they’re not entitled to asylum. They claim it, they know they’re going to be released into American society, they don’t show up for their hearings like this guy didn’t show up and then they commit an incredibly tragic crime like this one. I’ve got to tell you, my constituents are outraged. And everybody in America should be outraged about this because it could be your mother, your sister, your aunt, your daughter that got killed by one of these people. And we’ve got to put an end to that.

Coons: I’ll Accept Mueller Report if It Clears Trump on Collusion

On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Senate Judiciary Committee member Chris Coons (D-DE) stated that he will accept the findings of the Mueller report if they exonerate President Trump on the issue of collusion with Russia.

Co-host Ed Henry asked, “If this report essentially clears the president, and I use the word if, on the question of collusion with Russia, will you accept the findings?”

Coons responded, “Yes, I will. … I’ve said all along that whatever he reaches in terms of a conclusion, I will accept.”
