Our economy is based on generation and enslavement to vice. You'll notice that "liberation" movements only liberate the individual to a larger amount of vice to be enslaved to. The easiest thing to sell is vice, you just have to know which vice controls the individual's behavior and cater to it. Taken to its logical conclusion, if you generate the vice in individuals through media by constantly pushing it, you are effectly creating your own marketplace.

Have you ever wondered why all pop songs sound the same, why they are all state of the art productions, why they all have the same non-sensical lyrics, why they all can't go for more than 10 seconds without change in their melodic structure? Pop music is not only catered to sell, of course it is, but it also has an "educational" value in the sense that it conditions the listener to its own paradigm and makes him want that. When you have the melodic structure changing every 10 seconds, you will be conditioned to need something new and exciting every 10 seconds. When you have a female moan sexually in the song, you will be conditioned to be sexually aroused by the pop song, when you have lyrics about making money and fucking bitches, your lust for power will be activated. Then comes the "drop" an excitement that is equivalent to drinking the cup of excitement, sexual arousal and power. Pop music like many other forms of media is equivalent to hypnosis and conditioning. Whether consciously or not produced in that manner. How do you go back to listening to Bach or a piece that requires your attention for more than 10 seconds without delivering instant gratification? You can't.
