‘Intense hatred of Israel is moving from margins to center of US politics’ — Howard Kohr of AIPAC
The AIPAC policy conference in Washington began today on a defensive note, with the Israel lobby organization’s chief executive saying that Israel’s friends face a terrible new challenge, “the scurrilous charge of dual loyalty” and declaring, “The intense hatred of Israel is now creeping from the margins to the center of our politics.”
Howard Kohr addressed thousands at the Washington convention center after several non-Jewish warmup speakers pronounced, “I’m an American and I stand with Israel.”
AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) is plainly responding to the decision by several Democratic presidential candidates to sidestep the conference as well as the controversy over Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s statement last month that some American supporters of Israel don’t know where their allegiance lies.
The theme of Kohr’s angry speech was that it is American as apple pie to support Israel, and building an even stronger relationship between the countries will make both countries better.
Kohr painted a dark portrait of those now attacking the Israel lobby.
We are being challenged in a way that’s new and far more aggressive. We have always had critics and detractors, and some have been particularly harsh. But today they are emboldened and energized, and their false claims are taken at face value by new and larger audiences. Those claims are not meant to inform or engage in legitimate debate. They are meant to isolate us and demonize us so they can undermine America’s historic support for Israel.
Kohr said that the critics have announced that “you can’t be a good campus leader and a supporter of Israel, they say you can’t be a good progressive and support Israel.” But now they’ve gone further.
Now they are saying, you can’t even be a good American and be a supporter of Israel.
This isn’t a “normal” debate, he said.
This is defamation… The scurrilous charge of dual loyalty is a signal, and that signal amplified by today’s social media — is now empowering people who have long opposed our cause, our movement, and, frankly, everything we have built.
The intense hatred of Israel is now creeping from the margins to the center of our politics. … to the very places where people gather to make decisions.
The other side is trying to isolate us from our friends, our neighbors and the other causes and coalitions we care so deeply about.
Their designs are plain to see. They want to starve Israel of America’s support. They want the Jewish state vulnerable and alone. For America’s sake we cannot let that happen. America needs a strong Israel.

Syrian Army Uncovers Communication Systems, Surveillance Equipment And Weapons In Homs, Damascus And Daraa (Video, Photos)
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) uncovered loads of weapons and military equipment during recent search operations in the countryside of Homs, Damascus and Daraa, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on March 22.
A video released by the state-run agency shows some of the seized equipment, including military radio systems, satellite communication systems and electro-optical surveillance systems. All of these systems were made by Western companies, such as Motorola.
Loads of weapons can be also seen in the SANA video, including heavy machine guns, mortar cannons, rocket-propelled grenades of different types, assault rifles and ammunition of different calibers.
Most of these weapons and equipment were supplied by the U.S. and its allies to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) under a “train and equip” program that had been authorized by former U.S. President Barack Obama in 2014. The program was halted by President Donald Trump in 2017. However, most of the equipment found its way to the black market or even to the hands of terrorist groups.

Hemingway began by noting that the “Russia narrative” predates the Mueller probe, having begun circulating during the 2016 election after the creation of the infamous Clinton campaign-funded Steele dossier, which pushed the theory that then-Republican candidate Donald Trump was a “Russian agent.”
“We have, for the last three years … frequently hysteria about treasonous collusion with Russia to steal the 2016 election,” Hemingway told the panel. “The fact [is] that there are no more indictments coming and the fact [is] that all of the indictments that we’ve seen thus far have been for process crimes or things unrelated to what we were told by so many people in the media was ‘treasonous collusion’ to steal the 2016 election.”
“If there is nothing there that matches what we’ve heard from the media for many years, there needs to be a reckoning and the people who spread this theory both inside and outside the government who were not critical and who did not behave appropriately need to be held accountable,” she added.

Mueller Goes to Church Next to White House as Washington Awaits Report
Former special counsel Robert Mueller attended a church service next to the White House on March 24 as the nation waited to learn the findings of his final report on the investigation of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Mueller and his wife Ann attended a church service at the St. John’s Episcopal Church across from the White House, setting up for photographs of Mueller and the White House.

Gantz: If Netanyahu had a way to have me killed he would have
The news station revealed that Gantz made the statement in a private conversion, to which the station received access.
Blue and White leader Benny Gantz told a small group of confidants recently that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would harm him physically if he could, Channel 13 reported on Sunday evening.
“If he had a way to have me hurt, to have me killed, he would have done so," Gantz was quoted as saying.
According to the report, Gantz also said Netanyahu knows he will end up in prison and suggested that Netanyahu might have gotten Russia to hack his telephone in order to interfere in the election.
It was unclear how Channel 13 obtained the recording.
Earlier in the day, Gantz spoke at his hotel in Washington, where he told reporters that he does not accept Netanyahu's argument that the minister of defense and IDF chief of staff were not involved in the decision that led Germany to sell submarines to Egypt due to secrecy.
"I don't know any secret that the minister of defense and chief of staff are not allowed to know about," he argued during a short question-and-answer session. Gantz will be speaking on Monday in an AIPAC plenary session and is in Washington for the occasion.
Gantz attacked Netanyahu and blamed him for involving "cousins" in this process: "Any strategic decision must be taken through the relevant institutions. Selling submarines, it's not something that happens overnight. It is something with long-run consequences. You can't run the country through your cousins.”
Gantz will not be meeting with President Donald Trump during this visit to Washington, while the PM will see his American counterpart two times. Gantz, however, denied reports that he tried without success to get a meeting with Trump, and threw his support behind president Trump decision to recognize Israel sovereignty in the Golan Heights.
