I use a VPN but I don't take any real security precautions than that. If anybody tries to access my machine I will be alerted though. I just hate my isp being able to monitor what I am doing online. Hence the VPN. I don't give a shit either I am beyond giving a shit. My environment is hostile though so I have to keep my head down.
