There should be a commensurate penalty for a false accusation and it should be AUTOMATICALLY levied as soon as the initial claim is shown to be false. I don't want to get all complicated here … but a substantial penalty for the false claim and a per diem penalty for each day the person is denied access to his firearm(s) per firearm. Say $5k for starts (plus legal fees) and $50 per day per firearm. If you say that your Dad is dangerous and crazy and the court says he is not, it's gonna cost you, not him.
