WASHINGTON – A Georgia Republican who lost her House race last year is going after “celebrity” Democrats as she tries to win back her seat.
Former Rep. Karen Handel launched her 2020 bid for Congress Monday with an ad that gives a finger wag to the freshmen trio of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.).
“Imagine if we had leaders in Washington who worked for us,” Handel said in the ad.
“Leaders more interested in doing their jobs than being a celebrity.”
The ad shows Ocasio-Cortez talking up her “Green New Deal,” Omar looking bemused that she’s insulted American Jews and Tlaib’s infamous “impeach the motherf–ker” comment made the night she was sworn in.
Pelosi is shown saying she’ll give President Trump “nothing for the wall.” Handel also uses the clip of Harris saying she wanted to do away completely with private health insurance.
Missing from the ad is Handel’s successor, gun control activist, Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Ga.).
McBath beat Handel by a single percentage point — 50.5 to 49.5 percent — in November.
