The problem I have with Paul Craig Roberts is that his scathing article does not distinguish between a former corrupt US government and its agencies, and a current US government that is cleaning things up. To my mind that is a critical distinction.
Also he blames a "military/security complex" without particularizing exactly who/what he means. Again, it's important to distinguish between former administrations and corruption that was done when they were in charge, and the current administration.

Understand what you're describing.
It may be a good time to find a marriage counselor you and spouseanon can talk to. It might not save the marriage but might help you work out in your mind whether you are justified in leaving the marriage without guilt. Might help your spouse to understand that threats of suicide are not the way to proceed.
Normally I wouldn't suggest counselling but in this instance it seems like it might help you both sort things out.
