I hear the argument anon. That said, no one lives forever and not every dies "peacefully" in their sleep. Some suffer terribly for many years with little, to no, treatments offered that can help.
I'm telling you from personal experience, were I given the choice, I would clean up my affairs……….spend time with my family (and inform them), and send off to the great beyond.
Otherwise you're letting politicians control your life………if I recall the family of Terry Schiavo was forced to move their brain-dead, chronically vegetative state daughter, to Florida to finally fullfill what they claimed was her wish………namely, not to suffer in that way. I, for one, believed them.
The Republicans paid dearly for playing God on that issue. It should be a personal choice between family and the medical world/doctors, NOT a governor looking at his next election. Only my take…………I realize we live in a representative democracy. That said, thank God for Federalism and the States that permit it………think Oregon was among the first.
