It could be better. The system protects insider wrongdoers to a large extent, because anything else is admitting error, and the system will NEVER willingly admit that.

Why do you believe the media job is what the media says it's job is? The media says "trust us, we are here to bring you objective news, a view of reality." That's not their job. That is a self-serving myth that empowers them to mislead. I'm no more pissed at the media than I am pissed at a rabid fox or a healthy and poisonous snake. They are what they are, have a place in the ecosystem.
The true function of the media is to persuade people to adopt the media's desired point of view. The press will use the illusion of disagreement among them, etc. in order to lull you into a lazy approach to discerning reality.
Some subjects that ought to under HARD and vigorous debate have become articles of faith - like democracy (universal suffrage) is a good thing. It is not a good thing, it is a recipe for social downfall. See history.
Nevermind all the dishonest manipulation surrounding current events. I expect them to be true to their character, that is, misleading, if not on purpose, just by dint of their own ignorance and the limits of time.
