Speculating

RBG has malignant melanoma.

I lost a friend to this. It metastasized and spread throughout his body, including his eye and his brain. He lost his eye shortly before the brain part killed him. It is very aggressive sometimes. Ruth has that splotch on her hand that she covers with her trademark gloves.

She has already battled colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, and lung cancers. Her old suppressed immune system may not be strong enough to fight.

Now I don't know if she is full on pedovore, but the harvesting and use of melanin makes me wonder if there are increased adverse effects of that
