Makes no sense the way you lay it out. Smollette was cleared of Illinois state charges, which are 100% independent of federal (Q) charges.
IOW, the feds can't drop (state) Smollete charges in exchange for bigger fish.
DEMs are going to claim even the grand jury and state secret, sources and methods redactions are where the Trump malfeasance is buried.
Report can be released with "all of Stone" redacted, and that cures any issues with affecting the Stone prosecution.
Plus anything the two Nigerians have to say can be reproduced by the feds bringing them in for questioning. Plus the feds can question Smollette and get him on process (lying to the feds) crime.
