BIG LEAGUE GUNSGUN CONTROL FAIL: Nearly Zero Kiwi Gun Owners Give Up Their Guns After Christchurch

Zero

Anti-gun Ardern has asked kiwis to turn in their firearms. They aren’t listening.

Following the Christchurch mosque shootings, New Zealand gun owners have only turned in 37 guns as of Tuesday March 19, 2019.

In the aftermath of the massacre which left 50 people dead, a small number of gun owners decided to voluntarily turn their firearms in to the local police.

New Zealand police confirmed these numbers but did not provide specifics on how many people owned those guns, the make and model of the guns, or the districts where they were turned in.

According to the 2017 Small Arms Survey, the island nation has approximately 1.2 million guns registered to civilians. Taking these numbers into consideration, this means that there’s roughly a 1 gun for every 4 people. On the other hand, it’s estimated that there is more than one gun per person in the U.S.

One day after the mosque massacres, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern proclaimed that her government aims to implement gun control, which includes a ban on “military-style” weapons that were allegedly used during the slaughter.

Ardern also called on New Zealand’s gun owners to turn their weapons over to the government:

To make our community safer, the time to act is now,” Ardern said on Monday. “I want to remind people, you can surrender your gun to the police at any time. In fact I have seen reports that people are in fact already doing this. I applaud that effort, and if you are thinking about surrendering your weapon, I would encourage you to do so.

The New Zealand Prime Minister recognized that passing sweeping gun control in a country with strong degrees of gun ownership in rural and farming areas would create “a small degree of uncertainty among some gun owners who possess guns for legitimate reasons.” Ardern reassured gun owners in these areas that the incoming wave of gun control would not be targeting them.

People are conditioned only to take in information from "trusted sources".

Which is why, for instance, Catholics and Mormons still have churchgoers. Their own "priests" and "elders" are not telling them the truth, and they won't listen to anyone else.

‘SOMETHING HAPPENED TO HIM’A DAY AGO

Gambino Mob Boss Shooting Suspect Was ‘Radicalized’ by QAnon, Far Right, Even Trump, Lawyer Says

An attorney for the Staten Island man accused of killing a reputed Gambino mob boss says the 24-year-old suspect was influenced by far-right internet rhetoric and radicalized by the QAnon conspiracy theory and President Donald Trump. Anthony Comello appeared in a St. George criminal court Monday and was arraigned on charges including murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the March 13 shooting death of Francesco “Frankie Boy” Cali outside his home. While his client did not plead guilty to the crime, lawyer Robert Gottlieb cited “other right-wing conspiracy websites, hate words that have been spewed by citizens, including politicians, including right at the White House.” In court, Comello displayed handwritten pro-Trump slogans on his palm, including the phrases “MAGA Forever,” “Make America Great Again,” and “Patriots in Charge.” Comello was remanded without bail. Gottlieb told the court Comello’s “family and friends… recognize and picked up on significant changes in him over the past few months. Something dramatically happened to him that certainly seems to have been affected by that hate spewed throughout the internet.”

PostEverything Perspective

The Mueller report is in. Get ready for the conspiracy theories.

Being wrong stings. And, as we may soon discover in the wake of the conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation, people often cope with that sting by insisting that they’re still right. It’s a popular path, but it’s also one that often leads down into the rabbit hole of reality-avoidant conspiracy theory.

Since the Mueller report has yet to be released publicly, it’s unclear whether it will reveal substantial information that hasn’t already been laid out in the indictments, convictions and guilty pleas of 34 people and three companies. And the ultimate consequences of the Mueller investigation are unknown. But, per Attorney General William P. Barr’s summary of the report, the investigation “did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.” The report made no conclusion on the question of possible obstruction of justice by President Trump.

For a certain group of commentators who built massive online audiences by making bold, unsubstantiated claims about the Mueller investigation, that’s direct disconfirmation of some dearly held speculation about the investigation’s ultimate findings and consequences. They may choose to react to the news in weird ways. There is already evidence that the frustrating experience of dashed expectations will lead at least some of them down a strange road, one that might find them sharing more with the adherents of conspiracy theories such as QAnon than with the prosecutor whose rigor and discipline they supposedly admired.

For example, Barr’s summary of the Mueller report contradicts many claims made by Claude Taylor, a former low-level staff member in the Clinton White House who has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter by tweeting shocking claims about Trump, which Taylor attributes to unknown “sources.” One of his January 2018 tweets stated: “Source. Mueller has Trump dead to rights on obstruction of justice.” Recent news also disconfirms the already legally confused 2017 claim from Seth Abramson, author of the book “Proof of Collusion,” that “Bob Mueller will hunt both Trump and Pence to the ends of the Earth to secure impeachment and conviction.” Barr’s summary of the Mueller report also contradicts several claims made by Louise Mensch, who gained notoriety for making several kooky claims about Trump and the Mueller investigation. Earlier this month, Mensch claimed on Twitter that “Mueller will demonstrate collusion, and that will be the least of it.”

[How conspiracy theories spread from the Internet's darkest corners]

They were all wrong. And being wrong marks a crucial moment for these personalities and the left-leaning people who follow their dramatic claims about Mueller, gleaned from unnamed inside sources and their own supposed expertise. Will they adjust their claims to better accord with the reported facts, or will they detach even further from reality?

Yeah.

When Marines die on ops off the books, their deaths are reported as training accidents somewhere where they are not.

They died heroes, and they died with their boots on, in service of this great country.

And we will not forget them.
