Noting from last bread:

Falcon heavy rocket launch. First launch of that model, which is the most capable rocket on the planet today. About half as heavy as the Saturn V and about half it's capability as well. Two side boosters succesfully landed at cape canaveral the main booster crashed at sea. The payload was a tesla roadster (owned by Musk) shot into interplanetary orbit with Mars rendezvous.

To be honest the potus doesnt come off very informed when it comes to SpaceX. It wasn't the first time that boosters came back. SpaceX had done it before. It was the first time multiple boosters came back though and SpaceX is still the only one to have performed that feat.

I'm not sure what the 80 million refers to but to say that government would need 40 times as much is ludicrous. Government has done it before and will do it again. SpaceX biggest competitor for commercial launches is the European tax payer funded Ariane V. This one has twice the capacity of the smaller Falcon 9 which costs 62 million. Ariane V needs about 25 million in subsidies per launch. That would come in to about 15%. Not +4000% but +15%.

Just trust me on this one.

Relevance to Q:

If SpaceX would be seen as a globalist part of the swamp, I would have assumed Trump to be better informed on the company. He clearly misses some information, which is ok if SpaceX is not of importance to him.
