According to Amir Tsarfati, this move of Trump's is meant to 1) shore up support for Netanyahu, and 2) restore control over Golan to Israel.

I think POTUS supports this move because he is a DOER, and not a talker. The US resolved to move its embassy to Jerusalem long ago, for example, but it was POTUS who did it. The Golan had been a compromise worked out between Britain and France, and not in keeping with the historical territory of Israel. So, one could argue the logic for this goes back to biblical times. On a superficial level, one could argue POTUS simply wanted to give Netanyahu a boost in their upcoming April elections.
On a global timeline perspective, it is important to keep in mind that Russia and other nations will come against Israel soon, aka the upcoming 'Ezekiel's War'. The spark that brings this about could easily be the Golan Heights, or the fact that gas has recently been discovered and Russia will want access to it. The players in this game will point their fingers in every direction possible.
