Report: German military is purging right-wing populists from its ranks

For a long time now, the German military has always made a conscious attempt rid its ranks of soldiers who harbor neo-Nazi sympathies. However, recent claims made by a number of prominent German news outlets suggest that the military is now targeting soldiers who merely support the national populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) for expulsion too.

Numerous investigations have professed that the Bundeswehr has now started to broaden the range of individuals who it considers “not fit to serve in the armed forces” which have encompassed “sympathizers of Alternative for Germany (AfD) and of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán,” according to Il Giornale.

According to Der Spiegel, a German weekly news magazine, about 64 of the discharged soldiers were members of the anti-mass migration youth movement Generation Identity.

Air Force One: New estimate bumps total cost by nearly one-third

The cost of buying, equipping, and preparing to operate the two Boeing 747s that will become the next Air Force One presidential transport aircraft is now pegged at $5.3 billion, nearly one-third more than the figure routinely touted by the White House, according to Air Force officials and Pentagon budget documents.

The projected price tag — included in the Pentagon’s fiscal 2020 budget proposal — marks the first time the Defense Department has provided a total cost estimate for the project. It includes not only the cost of the planes themselves, but also work to build a new hangar complex at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and other administrative, engineering, and development work.

“The total VC-25B acquisition cost…is $5.3B and encompasses all costs associated with fielding the system,” Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek wrote in an email Monday, referring to the new Air Force One by its military designation.

The Pentagon’s 2020 budget request gives the total cost of the planes and the conversion work as $4.68 billion. This is the first time defense officials have projected those numbers in its budget. In previous years, the budget documents have simply said “continuing.”

Controversial security firm moving into Myanmar

Blackwater founder Eric Prince’s Frontier Service Group continues to expand in Asia

The Frontier Service Group (FSG), founded by former US military contractor Eric Prince, is moving into Myanmar to provide security services for Chinese and other foreign investors, the Myanmar Times reported on March 19.

FSG, a Hong Kong-registered company, has established a joint-venture security company in Myanmar called FSG (Myanmar) Security Services Co Ltd and is advertising for 30 security personnel in Myanmar.

According to the Myanmar Times, the company profile lists Daw Sandar Win (Myanmar), Zhang Huagang (China), Tan Qing (China) and U Si Thu (Myanmar) as directors.

Prince is also the founder of the defunct military contract company Blackwater, which, the Myanmar Times says, “was condemned internationally after its employees allegedly opened fire on a Baghdad street in 2007, killing at least 14 civilians.”

The Myanmar Times quoted Doi Ra, a local Kachin NGO worker, as saying that “we need to know the details of FSG’s operations in Myanmar … the current information is almost non-existent.”

Doi Ra said civil society organizations were concerned that the company would be used to provide security for large-scale infrastructure projects such as the controversial Myitsone hydro-electric dam project in northern Myanmar.

This collusion against conservative websites and personalities takes a toll. Meanwhile, fake news organizations that pushed the Russian conspiracy hoax for over two years are rated as credible news sources. And then these same so-called news organizations on the left use “unreliable” Wikipedia to define their enemies on the right. The Gateway Pundit is a victim of this despicable practice despite the fact that our reporting is more accurate than The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN and MSNBC.
