I think this is Q's way of sending a message to have a bunch of 'average' people apply to positions that are typically reserved for college types and fraternal groups. "These are the people kicking your ass six ways to Sunday and who should be in your place."
I could just be cynnical, but there's no reason for me to apply to any of the ABCs, and I'm a bit too used to doing things my own way to be content in the military. I might consider an officer program, but if I'm not a flag officer with my own command reporting directly to the President and Congress - I really have no interest in it. Call me arrogant.
If the bullets start flying, everything I have available goes toward defending our nation and people, but I've gone from being something closer to Ares to being more of a Haphaestus. My service will be trying to un-chinafy things. Ships that drive themselves into each other because China made the boards are kind of useless weapons. But… I'm part of something where we don't wear uniforms in our service…. And while a uniform looks sharp and has its place, there are others who can better fill that uniform and find fulfillment in it that I simply won't.
