The list of evidence indicating some sort of nefarious collusion is a joke. I don't have it handy, but none of the fact allegations amount to spit.

 

Even if Putin himself called to offer dirt, Clinton would take it, and so would any other politician. The idea with dirt is that the DIRT is what is sought, the DIRT is what is valuable, and the source is irrelevant. Reliability of the fact assertion, yeah, that matters.

It's a civil tort, libel. Generally speaking, lying to the public is legal. The liar pays for it politically, not by dint of DOJ action.
