Jeremy Kerr to stay behind bars.

He was a pest control executive involved with Connovation and the Department of Conservation. His product, Feratox, deserved a greater market share in his eyes so he set out to achieve that by putting some pure 1080 poison powder (sodium monofluoroacetate) into baby formula and sending it to Fonterra and Federated Farmers in NZ with a blackmail letter.

What’s now being portrayed by our so-called “free press” and the 1080 lobbyists is a story about extreme tactics from 1080 protesters. The proper context has been left out of the story and there are even “helpful links” at the bottom of the brief article for more reading (in case you wanted some context) about DoC’s victimhood at the hands of these “violent protesters”. The helpful links should be all the articles about Kerr’s arrest and how the judge found he was driven by commercial greed. But no, they lead to anti-anti-1080 stories that appear to have been written by the DoC & Co’s publicity people.

Jeremy Kerr, a pest control executive who worked with DoC, was part of a pest control company, Connovation, at a director level (Connovation was quick to distance itself after his arrest and when name suppression was lifted). Kerr is a poison advocate (and a party drug manufacturer) and he took the fall for what was most likely a scheme to get a bigger piece of the “poisoning pests profits pie” that involved dragging 1080 poison into the limelight as a food safety risk. The 2015 scare even meant Fonterra had to develop its own effective laboratory testing for the milk to appease China and other overseas markets (the usual one is old tech and not up to the job as we know).

That the media has portrayed Kerr as an activist and allows DoC to add him to its fantasy “threats list” is disappointing (an understatement) from journalists who should know and could do better if they had vertebrae. These journalists need to take an oath or something. If they can’t resist doing corporate and government bureaucratic dirty work then join a PR agency where that kind of spin is expected and let real journalists get to unravel it all to find the truth.

From the article:

“The Parole Board has decided Jeremy Hamish Kerr "remains an undue risk to the community".

“Kerr's blackmail was estimated to have cost the nation $37 million and it put at risk our biggest export market.”
