My guess is this will be so everyone will be forced onto the same page. Game journos have already changed their tune. For the past few years, the people who are very much supposed to be enthusiastic hype men for the industry that have instead become douchebags asserting a moral highground have been saying games cause everything from sexism to, yes, even violence. Trump has them instead digging out the actual studies that prove their own arguments wrong. And I know Bethesda and Rockstar walked into that place prepared.

Today it's videogames, 20 years ago it was rap, before that rock and roll and comics. There will always be politicians that will try to capitalize on moral panic to infringe on the first amendment (which videogames are absolutely covered by). Today those people were met head-on by two industry giants ready to prove the reason they want to do it this time is 100% baseless.
