About 1mn protesters join Algiers rally against president – report

About one million people took to the streets of Algiers on Friday to demand the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Reuters reported, citing police officers at the scene. This has been the biggest demonstration since unrest erupted six weeks ago. Erlier reports said that Algerian police used tear gas and water cannon to try to disperse demonstrators, days after the army called for Bouteflika’s removal to end weeks of political crisis. The protests, which erupted on Februery 22, have been largely peaceful but have put pressure on the military to stabilize the North African country.

Former CIA Director John Brennan Met with House Democrats This Week — On Same Day Rand Paul Accused Him of Major Role in Russia Conspiracy

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced Wednesday that according to a high level source, former CIA Chief John Brennan insisted Hillary’s fake Russia dossier be included in the Intelligence Report.

Brennan previously denied that the fake dossier was used in the Intelligence community’s assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

There is plenty of evidence to the contrary and on Wednesday Senator Rand Paul said Brennan should be asked to testify under oath in Congress ASAP.

The mainstream media has been bombarding Western countries with news about the need to phase out plastic from our daily lives in order to protect the environment, focusing on the World’s oceans.

Historic Welsh chapel to be turned into a mosque

The Grade II listed Moriah Methodist chapel in Llanbedr, near Harlech, was originally built in 1856 but the present structure dates back to 1913. Plans to turn it into a mosque have been submitted to Snowdonia National Park Authority by the Jamia Almaarif Mosque and Meditation Centre.

According to the BBC, Dan Morris, whose father Griffith was one of the architects in 1913, said he would have been “very pleased” to see it continue as a place of worship.

The chapel, listed for its “richly detailed” Art Nouveau entrance and original interior, had been on the market for £250,000 having been closed for many years.

Mr Morris told the Local Democracy Reporting Service it was a striking building which “fits into its surroundings”.

“It’s been empty for quite some time and is obviously deteriorating, but the fact it has always been a place of worship means it’s no major change of use in planning terms.

Salesforce Sued For Sex Trafficking… Because Backpage Used Salesforce's CRM

In the latest insane lawsuit regarding the internet and sex trafficking, a group of women who were tragic victims of sex trafficking have decided not to sue those responsible for trafficking them… but online customer relationship management (CRM) provider Salesforce.com. What? Huh? Why? You might ask? Well, apparently it's because everyone's favorite sex trafficking bogeyman, Backpage.com, used Salesforce.com for its CRM. Yup.

While most of the reports on this don't show the lawsuit, CNBC thankfully posted a copy (though it's locked up in Scribd, so we can't embed our own version, unfortunately). The lawsuit makes a bunch of leaps to argue that Salesforce is somehow magically responsible for people doing illegal things on Backpage. The levels of separation between the criminal actions and the liability here are simply ridiculous. Much of the lawsuit tries to suggest that because Salesforce is good at its job in customizing its offerings to its customers, that's proof that it's magically responsible for sex trafficking:

Rocket Lab launches DARPA’s R3D2 experimental satellite from New Zealand

Rocket Lab executed its first launch of the year from New Zealand today, sending an experimental satellite into orbit for the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

The company’s Electron launch vehicle lifted off from Launch Complex 1 on New Zealand’s Mahia Peninsula right on time, at 4:27 p.m. PT March 28 (12:27 p.m. local time March 29). Launch had been delayed for several days — first, due to concerns about a video transmission system, and then due to unacceptable weather conditions.

About 50 minutes after launch, the Electron’s kick stage successfully deployed DARPA’s Radio Frequency Risk Reduction Deployment Demonstration satellite, or R3D2, into a 264-mile-high orbit..

“Mission success! Great kick stage burn and final orbit. Perfect flight!” Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck said in a tweet.

The 330-pound satellite is designed to unfurl a 7-foot-wide antenna to demonstrate how large structures can be packed within small satellite-size package

United States Files Lawsuit Against California State Water Resources Control Board for Failure to Comply With California Environmental Quality Act

The Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) today filed civil actions, in both federal and state court, against the California State Water Resources Control Board for failing to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

On Dec. 12, 2018, the California State Water Resources Control Board (the Board) approved and adopted amendments to the Water Quality Control Plan for the San Francisco Bay/Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta Estuary (amended plan) and the related Substitute Environmental Document (SED). According to the complaint, the Amended Plan fails to comply with CEQA and, once implemented, will impair DOI’s ability to operate the New Melones Dam consistent with Congressional directives for the project.

“The environmental analysis by the California State Water Resources Control Board hid the true impacts of their plan and could put substantial operational constraints on the Department of the Interior’s ability to effectively operate the New Melones Dam, which plays a critical role in flood control, irrigation, and power generation in the Sacramento region,” said Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Bossert Clark for the Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division. “The Department of Justice will continue to advocate on behalf of our federal partners, especially when it comes to the proper application of federal and state environmental laws.”

“As stated in our letter to the Board on July 27, 2018, today’s lawsuit affirms the Bureau of Reclamation’s continued opposition to the State Water Board plan. The plan poses an unacceptable risk to Reclamation’s water storage and power generation capabilities at the New Melones Project in California and to local recreational opportunities,” said Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Brenda Burman. “We pledge our commitment to environmentally and economically sound water management for California’s farms, families, business, and natural resources, and the American public as a whole.”

$5 million worth of marijuana discovered in Butts County traffic stop

BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. – A traffic stop on I-75 in Butts County recently busted a man with millions of dollars worth of marijuana, deputies tell FOX 5.

Butts Co. Sheriff Gary Long told FOX 5 the van was filled with edibles, cannabis oil, vapor pens and candies all laced with THC – all of which totaled an estimated $5 million or $6 million.

The traffic stop happened Tuesday around 7 p.m. on I-75 south near mile marker 201 when the van was driving erratically, deputies said.

The driver, 32-year-old Justin Brooks, told deputies he flew in from Fort Meyers, Florida, and was moving to Atlanta.

"In 23 years, this is the largest seizure of such that I have ever heard of or seen during a traffic stop, ever," Sheriff Long told FOX 5.
