A tactic I thought of using, but haven't tested (it's based on my real experience though).

"Look, 18 years ago if I told you that there was a government agency called NSA, you would of thought I was crazy. If you asked the government, they even had a joke response that NSA stood for 'No Such Agency'. Now their existence is common knowledge.

8 years ago if I told you that the government is using our electronics to listen, watch and record us, you would have though I was crazy. Now that is common knowledge and many non-conspiracy theorists put tape on their webcams."
