The United States has ordered all of its government personnel to evacuate the Indian Ocean island nation of the Comoros due to gunfire and political unrest, the US Embassy said in an alert on its website on Thursday. "The Union of the Comoros is experiencing gunfire, political unrest, and infrastructure disruptions", the alert said. "US Government personnel have been ordered to depart the country".

Comoros is an island chain nation in the Indian Ocean.

The Comoros island chain is significant because this is the location of the mysterious November 11 low-frequency earthquake that shook the world. The earthquake was located offshore near Mayotte, an island that remained part of France when the nation of the Comoros became independent.

Also, scientists recently discovered in the Comoros large quantities of a mineral that should geologically not exist in that island chain (screenshot from a prior dig)
