Don't know if NZ is the same as US but the US constitution does not use the phrase "separation of church and state", it just says that the country will not establish an official religion
So if that is the case, then maybe people should restrict their prayer time to when they are at home or at their place of worship, not at their job, unless it's during their regular scheduled break or lunch time.

Personal prayer is silent and private
Public prayer, IMO, should be reserved for places of worship or places where everyone is in agreement of it , i.e. a Christian school.
