I fucking hate this shit. I hate it because it's compelling.

 

In poker there are a lot of scenarios where the outcomes are 100% polarized. Given the way the guy played, he has either absolute garbage or the stone cold nuts. And the only questions left are whether he's capable of such a deception, if he has it, or if he has the audacity to try it if he doesn't have it. And the guys who can create these scenarios and profit from them are the greatest. It's almost irresponsible to play in this way because it's so chaotic and high variance but it's also the only way to beat an opponent who's playing a really sound short term game. It's exactly what Trump did in 2016.

 

He's absolutely capable of this deception and profiting from it. But it doesn't pay out until the cards are revealed and one side is destroyed.

 

Either it's all true or we're all insane. And there's no middle ground.
