Trump Jr.: Russian Collusion Narrative 'Became a Business Model' for Media

“It’s been a pretty disgusting road.”

Truer words have seemingly never been spoken about the Russian collusion delusion and allegations that followed President Donald Trump over the last couple of years. That’s why it’s refreshing to hear the president’s son, Donald Trump, Jr., respond to the whole ordeal with a strong, clear message.

Trump Jr. sat down with Fox News’ Howard Kurtz to talk about the collusion allegations that the media has pushed, almost as if on a personal mission.

Kurtz attempted to almost downplay the media’s complicity in pushing the Trump/Russia narrative to the degree that they often spoke in certainties, rather than wait for the Mueller report to be finished.

Trump Jr. answered in a tough, but fair manner:

I think there were some people that tried to actually be fair. And when they were actually fair you'd see the other side just try to just obliterate them, right, even their own following. So you know, I think there were a couple of people that did good reporting, and I don't mean you know conservative reporters. I mean actually people on the other side that were at least unbiased or try to look at it objective.

They lost their following, they get ratioed to heck, you know, it became a business model for most media to attack Donald Trump and to buy into this narrative. And if you didn't you upset a lot of people, you risked your career, and you risked other things.

There are many labels one could use to describe the practice that Trump Jr. was talking about. Hit job, concerted effort, and conspiracy are three that come to mind.

We’ve seen the left eat their own on numerous occasions over the last couple of years, increasing in frequency in the last six months or so. Anyone working for the media, who tried to report fairly, saw their jobs made more difficult by a large segment of the public — especially on social media — who became fully indoctrinated by the same media organizations that the fair reporters work for.

Strange, but true irony.

Trump Jr. then addressed how a good portion of the American people “bought into” the whole Russian collusion narrative because they were beaten over the head with it every single day for two years.

Trump Jr. continued:

And so, the people who just bought into this hook, line, and sinker, who were selling it day in and day out, every day, ‘This must be the truth! We’ve seen the evidence!’ They lied to the American public for two years, Howie. There’s no ramifications, there’s no nothing. But they did a major disservice to the people who did do a good job, a small group of people who were reasonably objective and did a good job. And more importantly, they did a terrible disservice to this country, to journalism as a profession. I think they've done irreparable damage to the faith that the average American is going to have in terms of mainstream journalism. I think it's a blight on our republic, on democracy, and on our Constitution that’s not going to come undone very quickly.

Dick's Sporting Goods Loses $150M After Restricting Gun Sales

Last February, Dick’s CEO Ed Stack announced that the sports goods store would stop selling assault-style rifles and high-capacity magazines. The decision came after the company learned the Stoneman Douglas High School shooter legally purchased his firearm at one of their stores. Just days after the shooting, another teenager with a legally purchased firearm from Dick’s was apprehended by Vermont police before he could harm students at his high school.

Those situations prompted Stack to take a political stand that caused division between the company and many of its business partners and associates. In turn, the sports retailer lost $150 million in revenue last year.

"

The National Rifle Association criticized his 'strange business model.' The National Shooting Sports Foundation expelled Dick’s from its membership. Gun manufacturers like Mossberg refused to do business with him at all, and some shoppers followed suit.

Some people applauded the CEO’s decision and promised to show their appreciation with their business—a phenomenon called 'buycotting'—but those people didn’t stick around. 'Love is fleeting. Hate is forever,' Stack said."

Archaeologists Uncover Definitive Proof of Bible Passage in Middle of Jerusalem

By Jack Davis

Published April 1, 2019 at 7:14am

An artifact recently discovered beneath a Jerusalem parking lot contains the first non-Biblical reference to an Old Testament figure in the court of King Josiah.

The 2,600-year-old clay impression references the biblical name Nathan-Melech, according to the Times of Israel.

The clay was stamped with a seal that read, “(belonging) to Nathan-Melech, Servant of the King,” the newspaper reported. Nathan-Melech is named in 2 Kings as an official in the court of King Josiah.

The discovery took place within the ruins of a building destroyed during the destruction of the First Temple. It was found during excavations of a parking lot in the City of David National Park in Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Post reported.

A second seal was found that said it belonged “to Ikkar son of Matanyahu.”

Doron Spielman, vice president of the City of David Foundation, which operates the park, told the Times of Israel that the mention of Nathan-Melech’s name makes the discovery important.

“This is an extremely exciting find for billions of people worldwide. The personal seal of Nat(h)an-Melech, a senior official in the government of Josiah, King of Judah, as described in the Second Book of Kings.

“The ongoing archaeological excavations at the City of David continue to prove that ancient Jerusalem is no longer just a matter of faith, but also a matter of fact,” he said.

“It is truly fascinating to watch how archeologists have uncovered more than 12 layers of Jerusalem history in what used to be a parking lot until just few years ago,” he said.

Nathan-Melech is mentioned in 2 Kings, 23:11. As an official of King Josiah, he implemented religious reforms

Trump admin. orders faster personnel surge to border, wants more asylum seekers returned to Mexico

Washington (CNN)Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Monday directed Customs and Border Protection to speed its planned surge of 750 officers to assist the US Border Patrol along areas of the southern border where there has been a influx of migrants crossing into the US from Mexico.

She also told the border agency, which is overseen by DHS, to look at adding possibly more than 2,000 officers to the border areas.

Nielsen also directed the immediate expansion of the administration's policy of returning asylum seekers to Mexico for the duration of their immigration proceedings, calling for "hundreds of additional migrants" to be returned to Mexico each day.

So far, this policy is in effect in California and parts of Texas, but Nielsen said her department would look to expand the locations for returns as well.

"The crisis at our border is worsening, and DHS will do everything in its power to end it," said Nielsen in a statement.

Joe Biden Gets Super Unhelpful Defense from Mike Huckabee

The last thing Joe Biden needs right now is help from Mike Huckabee.

But there was the former Arkansas governor and current Fox News pundit Monday morning on the Fox Business Network dismissing the allegation of inappropriate behavior by the former vice president and 2020 presidential hopeful.

“Well, it is creepy,” Huckabee said, agreeing with his Maria Bartiromo. “But I have to say, I don’t think Joe Biden is a sexual predator. I think he’s a creepy old guy who is a little hands-on and all that.” He proceeded to say Biden’s behavior can’t be that bad because he was doing them in public. “I wasn’t like he invited women up to a hotel room or office by himself,” he said. “This is stuff he did with a thousand cameras on him and he did it anyway.”

“So I just think this is Joe. And I kind of like the guy,” Huckabee continued, calling the timing of the allegation from Lucy Flores, a former member of the Nevada State Assembly, “suspicious.”

Trump relayed to Mueller that his investigation was 'punch in the solar plexus' for US foreign policy

Robert Mueller was told by President Trump's lawyer that his Russia investigation was seriously undermining United States foreign policy.

John Dowd, who was Trump's lawyer from June 2017 until March 2018, said in a podcast with the Washington Examiner’s Byron York that the president believed that Mueller was damaging America on the world stage.

Dowd said that the Mueller investigation was “making [Trump’s] life not only miserable but difficult,” and that Trump told him it was also interfering with his ability to conduct foreign policy. Trump “was particularly worried about foreign affairs,” Dowd said, and Trump wanted his concerns passed along to Mueller.

He said Trump “would share with me an anecdote from a foreign region. And I’m talking about Abe in Japan, the G20, the President of Egypt, the Russians. And then I would share that with Bob [Mueller].”

Dowd said: “He’d be in a meeting and he’d be negotiating some trade deal or some other deal or trying to get an American hostage or a person back to the country — and right at the critical time, the guy on the other side would say, ‘Well Donald, are you even going to be around? What’s going to happen with this investigation?’ And that’s like a punch in the solar plexus."

Dowd praised Trump for his fortitude during the 22 months of the Mueller investigation: “It made his life very difficult, he didn’t like it, but he overcame it … I don’t know how he operated … That would get in the way and it was just incoming fire everyday. He had to deal with it and carry it. It was very difficult.”

He said Trump viewed the Mueller probe as illegitimate “It was a terrible ruse. The whole investigation and the allegations were without basis from the beginning. And that’s now been admitted by [former FBI director James] Comey and the counterintelligence colleagues in the FBI — that they had nothing when they started this … It’s probably he biggest fraud that’s ever been committed against the people of the United States.”

Mueller concluded his investigation last month charge anyone associated with Trump with collusion, although he did not reach a conclusion on obstruction of justice. Attorney General Bill Barr told Congress: “The Special Counsel did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple offers from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.”

Barr told Congress last week that a redacted version of the Mueller Report on his investigation into Trump would be made public by mid-April.

With Mueller's report completed, Dowd said, Trump felt a load had been lifted: “Now he’s free of this. It’s off his back."

Trump Continues To Hammer Health Care Messaging, Ropes 4 Senators Into His Fight

President Donald Trump continued with criticism of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and touted four Republican senators he said will fix the ACA, colloquially known as Obamacare, in a tweet Monday.

“The cost of ObamaCare is far too high for our great citizens. The deductibles, in many cases way over $7000, make it almost worthless or unusable. Good things are going to happen!” Trump wrote on Twitter. He also tagged the Twitter accounts for Republican Sens. Rick Scott of Florida, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, John Barrasso of Wyoming and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana.

It’s not the first time Trump has made this claim. His administration made news March 25 when the Department of Justice announced it sided with a December 2018 district court ruling that found the ACA violated the Constitution. Trump had tweeted that “[t]he DEDUCTIBLE which comes with ObamaCare is so high that it is practically not even useable” on Dec. 17.

The University of Southern California’s Center for Health Journalism (CHJ) confirmed Trump’s figure on Twitter Monday.

Press group files FOIA request for Mueller grand jury materials

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request Monday for the release of grand jury materials in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia report.

The press group is seeking a court order that would authorize public release of any grand jury material “cited, quoted or referenced” in the report, which Mueller submitted to Attorney General William Barr on March 22.

Barr has said he cannot release an unredacted version of the report because the grand jury content is subject to a federal statute tied to criminal procedure.

But the Reporters Committee argues that the court should allow the release of those portions of the report due to the “historical significance and overwhelming public interest” in the full report.

“The exceptions to the federal grand jury secrecy rules, multiple precedents, the First Amendment and the public interest all support releasing the Mueller report in full given the extraordinary circumstances of this matter and the need to ensure public confidence in the results of this investigation,” Theodore Boutrous Jr., an attorney representing the press group, said in a statement Monday.

“The American people deserve to see and scrutinize the full contents of the report so they can evaluate for themselves the threats to our electoral system from Russian interference and make their own judgments about whether the president and his campaign coordinated with Russia or obstructed justice,” he added.

Reporters Committee Legal Director Katie Townsend said, “The public is entitled to see as much of the Mueller report, unredacted, as possible."

The FOIA request came the same day that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) announced his panel will vote Wednesday to authorize a subpoena for Mueller’s full report.
