>Jim Stone had a report last year about Intel Management Engine with screencaps of Intel HW Engineer dropping some truths on a message board.

Got that right, fren. Thanks for chiming in.

Here's the archived Intel ME /pol thread for any anons other there who haven't read it yet:

Bingo. Never came across that "Russia to make own cpus" info/article but makes complete sense.

You anons have a cpu arch that you'd recommend & trust? Hard to know which to trust these days, if any:

x86/x64 already covered

ARM cells phones, consumer grade networking, embedded, everywhere these days

MIPS consumer grade networking

AVR embedded, arduinos, industrials

etc, etc, etc

>Can't give you moar than the usual Anon advice and dig…

Totally understand, fren. Only quoting first sentence but appreciate the rest of your post too, thanks.

>Older chips like the core 2 duo (or quad) that don't have the management Engine are still useful for web surfing but Windows and Apple are part of PRISM so go with Linux or BSD.

>I'm not sure I trust Linux so much now that most distro's use systemd (probably just paranoia on my part).

Exactly. Older chips for sure, following same advice for cell phones. Also having similar doubts about Linux and recent system daemons. Custom patched kernel, very sparse user-land seems best; of course moot if the hw is exploitable.

>No matter what hardware or software you use, you have to assume your being watched by our gov't and/or others, so behave accordingly.

Fortunately don't have to be too concerned when playing for the right-hand side but, in general, 100% agreed. Thanks, fren.
