Rear Adm. Edward J. Barrett has assumed command of the U.S. Coast Guard's Atlantic Maintenance and Logistics Command.
Barrett yesterday replaced Rear Adm. Douglas H. Teeson, who assumed command in 1994. Under his leadership, MLC provided logistical support for Haitian and Cuban migration operations, the TWA Flight 800 crash, floods in the Midwest and two major narcotics operations in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.
Barrett comes to MLC from Coast Guard headquarters in Washington.
MLC is based in Norfolk. It has a total of 2,200 personnel in Norfolk and in 69 subordinate commands and detachments along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
