This is a totally specious argument! It's also indicative of what happens when someone or a society removes God from the equation! The presupposition that, (I paraphrase) “people have sold children throughout antiquity” and thus is we need to rein in our limited understanding is preposterous! Yes, children have been abused and “sold” throughout history, but this fact does not suppose that we are wrong for judging such behavior as evil! It is evil! It’s a simple matter to research and find that even back in the earliest annals of history, it was clearly understood that such actions were considered evil! This presents a strong illustration of why human beings NEED a moral standard that transcends human intellect and reason! I think the point also illustrates the simple fact that, God Is! God Is the only basis for higher moral standards!
