Looking at the Snowden tweets a second time after now having coffee, it looks like first Snowden tweeted C, and afterwards A/B replied and Snowden retweeted A/B. So it may have been choice C already, unless Snowden has some control/contact with A/B and had his account reply to set up the A/B response.
