It's clear to me that Snowden is working for the globalists.
His public takedown of the NSA began ostensibly, after Adm Rogers (US military) took over the capabilities of the NSA.
The accompanying two Hollywood movies promoting Snowden as a hero to the masses confirms #CIA / Globalist backing in my mind.
Assumption is that this whole OP was designed to get public outcry to disband/curtail the NSA, so other actors could keep this technetronic power to themselves, to advance the agenda.
Don't know what his secret family ties are, but I'd bet they're to famous/rich/vocal globalists.
