Google will require healthcare, parental leave for extended workforce
Google's announcement comes the same day that a group of 915 Google employees signed onto a letter demanding equal treatment for the company's temps, vendors and contractors.
The letter, obtained by The Hill, claims that TVCs account for more than half, 54 percent, of Google's workforce. Google declined to share how many of its employees are TVCs and how many are full-time employees, but according to the letter, the company employees 122,000 temps, vendors and contractors.
Google will now require that companies employing the temps and vendors provide their workers with full benefits, including comprehensive healthcare, a minimum wage of $15 per hour, 12 weeks of parental leave and a minimum of eight days of sick leave.

Ireland won’t accept checks on Irish goods at EU ports
Ireland will not allow its desire to keep the Irish border open if Britain leaves the EU without a deal to result in checks on Irish goods at ports on the European mainland, Foreign Minister Simon Coveney has said. “We have to find a way of ensuring that we protect the single market’s integrity and that we avoid physical infrastructure” on the Irish border, Coveney told parliament on Tuesday. The minister was referring to meetings that had begun at official level with the European Commission on how to manage the border in a no-deal Brexit, Reuters said. “Ireland is not going to allow a situation where the UK leaving the EU without a deal drags Ireland out of the single market with it,” according to Coveney.

I'm thinking deeper. What if they're dumping him to shield him from scrutiny over his son's foreign dealings?
