Game Changer: China Quietly Sends 100 Troops to Venezuela
Washington needs to re-think its clumsy and provocative foreign policy
The reported arrival of Chinese military personnel in Venezuela last weekend is undoubtedly a major event in world politics.
Unlike Russia, which has a history of force projection abroad, this is an extremely rare Chinese move. Although vital Chinese interests are at stake in the war against terrorist groups in Afghanistan and Syria, China refrained from publicising any such deployment.
The reports mention that the group of Chinese military personnel is 120-strong and arrived on the Margarita Island in the Caribbean Sea off the Venezuelan mainland on March 28 ‘to deliver humanitarian aid and military supplies to the government forces.’ After delivering the humanitarian supplies, the Chinese PLA troops were apparently transferred to a Venezuelan military facility.
While the delivery of aid is one of many expected shipments, according to government officials, the arrival of Chinese military personnel was under-reported in international press.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Venezuela imported $349 million worth of arms from China between 2010 and 2014 alone — initially, with less sophisticated equipment such as radars and aircraft to train pilots, reinforced vehicles and replacement parts, etc. but military goods that arrived in 2017 including armoured tanks, ammunition, uniforms and infantry equipment, as well as replacement and service parts for Russian-made pieces.
A week ago, around 100 Russian military personnel were deployed to Venezuela to instal a military helicopter training facility, but details of the Chinese PLA mission have not been disclosed. There is close coordination between Moscow and Beijing on foreign policy issues and it is entirely conceivable that the two countries’ deployments are synchronised moves.
Both Russia and China have heavily invested in Venezuela, the latter by far outstripping the former. According to a recent report in the LA Times, “Over the decade ending in 2016, China loaned Venezuela approximately $62 billion, much of which Caracas could repay with oil. Moscow in the last several years gave Venezuela $17 billion in loans and investment, and in December the two governments signed a new deal in which Russia will invest $6 billion in Venezuela’s oil and gold sectors.”
“China and Russia are Venezuela’s two main creditors, and they have been the principal economic force keeping the Maduro government afloat, making the difference between solvency and bankruptcy, financial experts say.”

At the end of his remarks President Trump said the origins of the Mueller Report are criminal and treasonous.
Trump told the reporters they would receive Pulitzer Prizes if they investigate the origins of the Mueller investigations.

SCANDAL: UN Paid 10 Percent To Terror Group Al Shabaab To Access Somalia
Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau declared on Monday that the UN was giving 10 per cent of humanitarian aid to terrorists to grant safe passage of food and other supplies in war-torn regions controlled by the deadly militia group, as reported by Standard, Kenya.
Prof Kamau termed last Thursday’s UN resolution on terror financing as “contradictory”Going by earlier estimates placing annual budgets for aid for Somalia at $118 Million, the amounts earned by the terrorists disguised as funding for “capacity building” would be $12 Million.
His response came soon after the UN Security Council passed a vote ordering members states to enforce laws against terror financing.
It is a position that could attract fierce reactions from the US-based intergovernmental organisation while generating debate in in Kenya which has borne the brunt of the instability in Somalia.

Lauren Salzman signs cooperation agreement with Feds; Admits she imprisoned Mexican woman & lied to women about DOS being led by a man – Raniere
On March 25, Lauren Salzman, 42, pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering and one count of racketeering conspiracy in the Nxivm case.
Although it appears she also signed a cooperation agreement with the feds, all the pertinent information concerning this was redacted from the published transcript of the court hearing.
What we do know is Lauren signed a 10-page agreement, plus a one-page Exhibit A attached to it. The agreement is not available to the public. It is dated March 25, 2019. Frank Report has been told by a source familiar with the proceedings that Lauren signed a “cooperation agreement.”
Present at her hearing before Judge Nicholas Garaufis were Moira Kim Penza and Tanya Hajjar, Assistant US Attorneys; Hector Diaz and Andrea Tazioli, of Quarles & Brady – attorneys for Lauren Salzman, and Lauren herself.
During the proceeding, the judge asked Lauren a series of questions concerning her understandings and competence. He explained the maximum term of imprisonment is 20 years for each of her two charges. There is no minimum term and the sentence imposed on each count may run consecutively, that is, one after the other.
The judge explained he would consult federal guidelines that provides sentencing ranges but that he was not bound by those guidelines.
The judge told Lauren that, “no one knows today what your exact guidelines range will be”. Then he made additional statements that were redacted from the official transcript of the hearing.
This might well be in reference to Lauren’s cooperation with the Feds, and that sentencing might be influenced downward by the nature of her cooperation and how well it is substantially accomplished.
After some additional advisories, the judge asked Lauren “how do you plead to the charge[s]”
Lauren responded, “I plead guilty.”
THE COURT: Are you pleading guilty voluntarily and of your own free will?
THE DEFENDANT: Yes, your Honor I am.
THE COURT: Had gone anyone threatened or forced you to you plead guilty?
THE DEFENDANT: No, sir.
THE COURT: Other than the agreement with the Government, has anyone made you a promise that caused you to plead guilty?
THE DEFENDANT: No, sir.
THE COURT: Has anyone made you a promise about the sentence that you will receive?
THE DEFENDANT: No.
THE COURT: So, at this time, I would like you to tell me in your own words what you did to commit these crimes.

Joe Biden appears to have made a major tactical error last year when he bragged to an audience of foreign policy experts how he threatened to hurl Ukraine into bankruptcy if their top prosecutor, General Viktor Shokin, wasn't immediately fired, according to The Hill's John Solomon.
In his own words, with video cameras rolling, Biden described how he threatened Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in March 2016 that the Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees, sending the former Soviet republic toward insolvency, if it didn’t immediately fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin. -The Hill

Valerie Jarrett Complained That The Obama White House Was Too ‘Macho’
Former White House advisor Valerie Jarrett complained in her new book that there was a “general macho atmosphere” in the Obama White House.
Jarrett explained that after noticing that the overall dynamic in the West Wing was “causing women to feel uncomfortable,” she took former President Barack Obama aside and confronted him.
“If you notice, in meetings, the women rarely talk,” Jarrett reportedly told the president. “And when you aren’t there to ask their opinion, they are becoming increasingly mute.”
After she said that, Obama invited a number of the senior women to the White House in response and, over dinner, discussed how they could make things better.
Jarrett also came out in defense of former Vice President Joe Biden during an appearance on Tuesday’s “The View” to promote her book.
“I don’t think we should be disqualifying people,” she said. “Let him run. That’s part of what being in a democracy is all about.”
Biden has been accused of inappropriate behavior by two women, complicating his potential run for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
