There are/were both security and logistical reasons for doing that during Phase I.
I image that in Phase II, it looks like it will be an archive of sorts to hold compiled information. This will both keep it one place for easy access (as it won't be spread through 500 threads) and it will also assure that it doesn't scroll off the board into the bit bucket as will happen over time on a board such as this.
