I'm not sure what you're implying, Anon…
FWIW, I was in kindergarten at a school on the other side of the Hudson River from Newburgh when this happened. There were severe storms that day. We all had to go into the halls and sit along the walls with our heads covered - the standard "tornado procedure" at the time. Part of that tornado procedure was to open the windows in the classrooms and the doors that led outside. At the time people thought it was the pressure differential that was the main cause in structure failures during tornadoes, so the procedure to open windows and doors was supposed to increase the chances of that not happening. When the storm that hit Newburgh crossed the river and got to us, the skies turned green and the wind howled through the hallways for what seemed to be forever.
Again, not sure what you're implying with your post… but I witnessed it first-hand.
