Colleges are for networking and being exposed to new ideas and finding a passion in life and pursuing dreams.

Engineers, Chemists, Computer Science, Communications, writers, Lawyers, Doctors, Nurses, Accountants are all trained in colleges.

You can’t learn many of these skills on the job. Trades maybe, however thats a different story. Apprenticeships are largely a thing of the past. Employers want cheap experienced labor. Employee retention and developement or lifetime positions only exist in select careers.

On the other hand….

Colleges have become too rich and too expensive but they are a critical part of any healthy society.

Mostly the jobs available in abundant supply are low paying, no benefits having, dead end service industry jobs.

Besides not everyone wants to be a plumber or mechanic, electrician etc.

Excellent jobs that are being taken over for the most part by immigrants who get in and only hire each other. Only white guys on the crew is the contractor himself or maybe the foreman.

Nuclear Techs with an associates start above 6 figures. Doesnt mean there are any jobs out there for them.

Mining Engineers are trained at very expensive schools. Very few scholarships and have to be very competent in math. Diff EQ or even higher.

Military or College and Trade Schools are all important.

However many of them are temp jobs.

And you also know the reality of “Who you Know not what You Know”

And as I said this one for example you need 2 years experience.

I like Northern Nevada but dont care for most of the rest.
