I hear you, but let's not act like the political machine isn't still very much in operation mode, and certain individuals aren't shy about trying to bury inconvenient facts.. Look at all the stuff publicly disclosed and subsequently dismissed from even comped right-wing sources like Breitbart. You can literally let something out into the public forum, and as long as CNN, MSNBC, etc don't pick it up, it has zero impact.
