I assume when you say look at imports, you mean look at what Mexico imports? From US?

https://www.inside-mexico.com/what-does-the-us-export-to-mexico/

Following are the most important exports from the US to Mexico:

Machinery $42 Billion

Electrical Machinery $41 Billion

Vehicles & Vehicle Parts $21 Billion

Mineral Fuels $20 Billion (Gasoline, natural gas)

This makes our trade deficit look even worse than they say.

I am not afraid of political repercussions from a short-term squeeze, while US companies reconfigure to sell inside this country. A trade deficit means there are more opportunities to sell inside the country if Mexican trade were suspended.

I think US citizens would overlook some short pain to gain long-term border security. Michigan and Wisconsin have fallen to unfettered immigration. Various sanctuary cities all over the nation, as well. Chicago has fallen to heroin. We need to focus on saving what's left.

The prevailing opinion I hear is, "Don't wait until it's too late!"
