Dr. James Dobson has sounded off on the anti-faith Equality Act, saying the bill is "nothing but a thinly veiled attempt to finish off religious liberty in America once and for all."

Dobson – the founder of Focus On The Family and one of the leading voices for faith and family in the nation – is offering a very serious alert on the ramifications of the so-called Equality Act. Dobson notes that those who hold to a biblical view of marriage will be most at risk:

"[B]y creating a protected class of citizens out of the LGBT community, this bill places Christians who believe in traditional marriage at grave legal and civil jeopardy…. We are one nation, under God, and we are already blessed with a Constitution and First Amendment that protects every American without criminalizing our most sincerely held religious beliefs.”

Bill bans religious exemption

During this week's hearings, pro-LGBTQ presenters attempted to say the bill will not impact people of faith – but the BILL ITSELF makes it clear that the ramifications to Christians are far reaching.

In fact, this hostile new bill specifically forbids citizens or organizations from raising a religious free exercise claim as a defense against it!

Quoting from page 23 of the bill:

‘‘The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (42 U.S.C. 2000bb et seq.) shall not provide a claim concerning, or a defense to a claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application or enforcement of a covered title.’’.

As Liberty Counsel has clearly stated, "There is NO RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION to this bill!" (emphasis in original)

Rep. Jerry Nadler, House Judiciary Committee Chairman, all-but admitted that people of faith will be under attack by saying during the hearing, “Religion is no excuse for discrimination when it comes to sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Urgent Call To Action

With House Democrats pushing this new bill through the Judiciary Committee, it is critically important for concerned citizens to let their voices be heard.
