Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte tells China to ‘lay off’ island in disputed South China Sea

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte told China on Thursday to “lay off” an island occupied by Manila in the disputed South China Sea and said he would deploy his soldiers there if Beijing touches it.

Duterte’s remarks, which he said was not a warning but rather a word of advice to a friend, follow a statement made by the foreign affairs ministry calling the presence of more than 200 Chinese boats near Thitu Island illegal.

“I will not plead or beg, but I am just telling you that lay off the Pagasa because I have soldiers there. If you touch it, that’s a different story. I will tell the soldiers ‘prepare for suicide mission’,” Duterte said in a speech, using the local name for Thitu.

Brazil rejects U.N. appeal not to revise history by denying 1964 military coup

BRASILIA (Reuters) - The government of Brazil’s right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro has rejected an appeal by a United Nations expert not to revise Brazilian history by denying a military coup occurred in 1964.

In a letter to the U.N. human rights commission in Geneva made public on Thursday, the government said it “repudiates the baseless allegations” of the U.N. expert who criticized Bolsonaro’s decision to commemorate the 1964 military uprising as an attempt to condone rights violations.

“President Bolsonaro has reiterated his understanding that the 1964 movement was necessary to stave off the growing threat of a communist takeover of Brazil and to ensure the preservation of national institutions in the context of the Cold War,” the letter said.

According to Bolsonaro, the overthrow of an elected leftist government was not a coup d’etat, but a legitimate movement backed by the country’s Congress and judiciary, as well as the majority of Brazilians, the letter said.

Senior official at the European Commission commits suicide following hiring scandal

A senior official in the Commission’s legal service committed suicide last December after a distinguished career.

The tragedy is said to be linked to her involvement in the controversial appointment of the Commission’s new Secretary-General Martin Selmayr, French newspaper Liberation reported on Thursday.

According to its Brussels correspondent Jean Quatremer, who wrote a number of investigative articles about the appointment process, the official found herself in a situation of conflict of interests when she was forced to defend the appointment against her values in the Commission’s replies to the European Parliament and the European Ombudsman.

His main allegation is that the official became a victim of moral harassment after she allegedly provided documents to the Ombudsman Emily O´Reilly despite the Commission's refusal. On basis of her investigation of the documents, the Ombudsman criticised the appointment and identified instances of maladministration in the appointment procedure.

China Hails ‘New Consensus’ on Trade as Trump Talks Up Unfinished Deal

China and the U.S. claimed progress in talks to end their trade war, with President Xi Jinping pushing for a rapid conclusion and President Donald Trump talking up prospects for a “monumental” agreement that may still be some weeks away.

Through a message passed to Trump via Vice Premier Liu He, Xi called for an early conclusion to negotiations and said that strategic leadership was needed to ensure healthy and stable U.S.-China relations, the official Xinhua News Agency said. Liu, who took part in talks this week in Washington, said the two sides had “reached new consensus on such important issues as the text” of a trade agreement, according to Xinhua.

Shocking confessions about Iran regime's inaction and covering the dimensions of Flood losses

Iran - Flood - No. 6

Sixteen days after the onset of the floods, the mullahs' inhumane regime hides the real dimensions of human and financial losses, while at the same time preventing the expression of anger of the people by theatrical moves and false reports from government, Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and military aid.

Pakpour, head of the Revolutionary Guard Corps’ ground forces, today unveiled in a telephone report to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, IRGC Brigadier General Bagheri, some of the disastrous dimensions of the devastating flood and inaction of the mullah's regime in confronting this catastrophe.

He said, "They said for two or three days that the flood is coming, evacuate, without any foreground without, for example, giving them a tent, now they evacuate, where to go, go on a mountain which is cold, now water has taken everywhere, there is no road, only an open gas road … Many villages, most of the villages have no road, there's nothing, only with just a helicopter, some food is taken there …. Electricity is cut off because all cables have fallen."

He added: "There are too many problems, there is no management. No government official dares to go there, it is terrible. God is witness that they are very angry. I have just been able to get out of their way. They are very upset. They are very angry. Well, they have a very terrible situation" (Tasnim News Agency, April 2, 2019)

School district that forced girls to shower with boys can’t get out of Title IX lawsuit

Yet government can force teenagers to disrobe in front of opposite sex?

A federal court permitted a lawsuit to proceed against an Illinois school district that allows high school boys to use girls’ locker rooms, restrooms and showers in order to accommodate transgender students.

But girls who don’t want to be seen naked by boys got bad news: The judge ruled that they have no right to “visual bodily privacy” if the government says so.

Dozens of families sued the Chicago-area Township High School District 211 three years ago due to its policy letting students as young as 14 choose to use the locker rooms of the opposite sex.

Saving Europe - destroy or double-down

Next week several right-wing parties across Europe will attempt to forge an alliance ahead of the European elections.

The idea is to build a parliamentary group that could gain enough fire power to block European legislation as we know it. But there are serious obstacles.

The populists don't have a common platform, to put it mildly – their interests are diverging and their clashing personalities despise compromise.

We spoke to one of the foremost populist leaders in Europe, France's Marine Le Pen.

Here's what she had to say.

We will actually come first in the European elections. Because we represent, in actual fact, a hope for Europe. This Europe, has driven people to despair, this European Union, with its incarcerative nature, its blackmail, its threats, and then its results are again very bad.

But there is another Europe to build, and to save Europe, you have to turn away from the European Union.

Rescue ship with 64 migrants onboard stuck at Sea after being denied entry

Text size Aa Aa

A humanitarian ship carrying 64 migrants is stuck in the Mediterranean Sea after both Malta and Italy refused them entry, setting the scene for another standoff between EU member states.

The migrants were rescued off the coast of Libya on Wednesday by the German NGO, Sea-Eye. The aid group said it was looking for another ship that had gone missing on Monday with 51 migrants on board when it received the distress call.

It accuses the Libyan Coast Guard of ignoring its attempts to get in contact.

"Some politicians like to describe charities like us as not cooperating with the authorities. But the fact is that in Tripoli no one was available under eight different phone numbers and the emails were not answered," Gorden Isler, spokesman for Sea-Eye, said in a statement.

"How should one cooperate with someone who does not communicate?" he added.

Democrats have discovered a form of media bias they don’t like. Naturally, it’s at FOX News. It seems they don’t like the fact that FOX News doesn’t march in lock step with the liberal media and that’s a big problem.

Medical Doctors Question Veracity of Footage in White Helmets Documentary After Al-Qaeda Wins Oscar

Despite Oscar Win, Organization Revealed As Al-Qaeda Rescue Operation

Since 2001, Americans have lost the majority of their Constitutional rights under the guise of security and protection from terrorist attacks launched by al-Qaeda.

Freedom of travel has been restricted, the Fourth Amendment has virtually been eliminated, due process scarcely exists, and even the First Amendment has been rapidly curtailed and is being chipped away even more with each passing day.

But sixteen years after Americans began throwing their rights at the U.S. government in fear of al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization blamed by the Bush administration for the 9/11 attacks, the United States’ film academy has given al-Qaeda an Oscar.
